Privacy Policy
Last updated Nov 1, 2026
Effective date: 2026-11-01. This policy explains what this site collects, why, and how you can control it. It is written in plain terms and is not a substitute for legal advice.
Information we collect#
We collect only what is needed to run the features you use:
Account information: your email address, chosen username, a password hash, and MFA enrollment status. Your email is never shown publicly.
Sign-in activity: session records including IP address and browser information, kept to keep your account secure and to detect abuse.
Newsletter subscription: your email address, the time and source of your consent, your preferences, and unsubscribe history.
Comments and forum posts: the text you submit, shown publicly under your username.
Contact form submissions: your name, email address, and message, so we can respond to you.
Cookies#
This site uses only essential cookies required for sign-in sessions and security (such as CSRF protection). There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
How we use your information#
We use your information to operate your account, deliver newsletter issues you've subscribed to, display your comments and forum posts, respond to inquiries, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data retention#
Contact form submissions are kept for up to 2 years after resolution, then deleted. Moderation records (reports, moderation actions) are kept for up to 2 years. Security and audit logs are kept for up to 3 years. If a comment or forum post is deleted, its text is cleared within 30 days; a limited record may be kept briefly for moderation purposes. Newsletter suppression records (people who unsubscribed or opted out) are kept indefinitely so we never accidentally re-add you.
Sharing with third parties#
We use Hostinger to host this site and to send transactional and newsletter email on our behalf; Hostinger processes the minimum data needed to deliver that email. We do not share your information with any other third party, and we do not sell it.
Your rights and choices#
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You can review or delete your account from your account settings at any time. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy#
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security#
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, administrator accounts require multi-factor authentication, and backups are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, concrete steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy#
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, note them on this page.
